Stain-Proof

Stain-Proof is our most versatile sealer. Stain-Proof is an advanced penetrating sealer that utilizes a minute silane molecule that penetrates stone, concrete or grout deeply (up to 1/4") in an alcohol-based liquid rather than a water or toxic petroleum based solvent. A chemical reaction bonds the silane molecule to the latticework of the stone or concrete, creating a permanent seal. It never has to be reapplied. Perfect for granite, marble, travertine, slate, limestone, concrete, brick, grout, pavers and cultured rock. Eliminate the messy and costly re-application of stone sealers every 1-2 years.

A 15 YEAR PERFORMANCE WARRANTY is offered for the treated surface when product is applied by an Accredited Applicator following our written instructions and surface is maintained regularly using our written recommended maintenance system. Spills should still be cleaned up immediately to minimize absorption.

Application

1. ALWAYS TEST PRODUCT ON A SMALL AREA FIRST and allow a 24-hour cure time to determine the ease of application and desired results.
2. Ensure surfaces to be treated are dry, clean and free of residues. Apply when surface temperature is between 40° and 95° F.
3. Product is to be applied without thinning.
4. Generously saturate the surface with product using a low-pressure hand spray, a clean brush, or similar. Surface should have a mirror-like "wet" look for at least 3 seconds. Avoid contact with surrounding areas.
5. After 10 minutes or longer, repeat Step 4. Total application rate is approximately 40 to 60 sq. ft. per quart, depending on surface absorption (or porousity).
6. Allow 10 minutes or longer for product to penetrate surface then polish surface with a clean white dry cloth to remove excess product.
7. Product will take 7 days to fully cure.
8. Clean equipment with organic solvent or acetone.
9. Sealer will not prevent surface etching.

Special Notes and Helpful Hints

1. After at least six hours, verify the effectiveness of the seal by leaving water on the surface for several hours. If the stone darkens due to water absorption, allow area to dry and apply another coat of the product.
2. Statuary grade (dense) marble and very dense (dark) granite may require one coat of Stain-Proof followed a day later by one coat of Porcelain Sealer. Porcelain Sealer has a molecule that is even finer so it can penetrate even the densest of stones.
3. Very porous materials such as sandstone benefit from a longer curing time between coats. Occasionally, they may require a third coat since the product can penetrate so deeply.
4. The sealer is "migratory" and will continue to penetrate the stone for a period of one month though the surface is dry. Most stones will be sealed to a depth of about ¼".
5. Avoid moisture contact with the surface for 6 hours after application.
6. Keep your sealed stone clean. Use any cleaner. We recommend SP-Cleaner for everyday cleaning. However, any cleaner can be used without hurting the seal – including bleach. Caution should be used with acidic liquids (including vinegar) on marble, limestone, concrete, or other calcareous surfaces since the product will not prevent surface etching.
7. The product will not protect against surface wear or scratching of the surface. However, even the scratched or worn area will remain sealed against water and oil.
8. On rare occasions, the product may slightly lighten or darken some surfaces. Test first.
9. Allowing the product to dry on the surface of the stone may leave a temporary slight haze or sheen. If polishing with a clean white towel does not remove it, reapply a light coat of Stain Proof and wipe off while moist.
10. The product can penetrate through most impregnating sealers. Apply a small amount. If the stone darkens, it is penetrating and is sealing.

Safety Precautions

1. Do not take internally. Keep away from children.
2. Product is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE until dry.
3. Avoid moisture contact with the surface for six hours after application.
4. Protect surrounding areas from overspray.
5. Keep away from drains, plants, water and soil.
6. Use only in well ventilated areas.
7. Use a positive pressure respirator if ventilation is inadequate.
8. Wear suitable solvent-resistant gloves, protective clothing, safety goggles and an organic vapor respirator during application.
9. Avoid applying in windy conditions.
10. Wash hands thoroughly after applying.
11. Use product within 12 months of purchase.
12. Keep container tightly sealed, in a cool well-ventilated place.
13. Product is freeze-thaw stable.
